My English isn`t really good...I hope you can read it.
My name is Jenny (24), I come from Germany and I bought this book the day it was published (yeah, I`m a really big fan of Mr. Van Dyke ) - since that day I read the book a few times and it always was a pleasure!!
But, not only for me...
I`ve read the book (okay, I translated it into german words) to a group of 15 young children, only 5-7 years old. I tought, it will be a good idea, because it`s a new “Christmas- story- book” the kids do not know before.
And, what shall I say: The kids loved the book!! The story, the imagery and exspecially the old wise man, Mr. Finnegan!!
After reading the book, we talked about the book. We discussed the way Maggie act, and the person she is in the beginning of the book and in the end.
Also, we talked about Christmas and the meaning of it. We discussed ways to help other people and so on.
It was a great afternoon and I think, we all (the kids and myself) get a very deep impression of Christmas this day.
So, all I want to say is...
Mr. Farr, Mr. van Dyke and all the other people who worked on this book:
Thank you!!
Sincerely,
Jennifer
PS: To all the people out there...I wish you a happy new year!! |
